Success in WorldSkills International Competition
42nd WorldSkills International Competition held in Leipzig, Germany has ended. Georgia, as an associate member, participated for the first time. Georgia was represented by three contestants of Worldskills Georgia team: Ucha Ghviniashvili a web-designer, Evgeni Morozov a welder and Tinatin Iordanishvili a cook.
WorldSkills Georgia is a joint project led by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement. The project is being implemented with the support of the Government of Germany and technical assistance of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
July 2-7, 2013 up to 1000 participants from 52 countries competed in 46 vocational skills. The entire space of Exhibition Center in Leipzig was crowded with supporters and visitors. Around 200 thousand visitors, among them 1000 accredited media representatives, attended the competition including opening and closing ceremonies.
Web-designer Ucha Ghviniashvili – the Georgian team member received two medals for successful participation. He became the best representative of the country and was awarded the Best of Nation medallion as well as the Medallion of Excellence at the closing ceremony.
Simon Bartley, President of WorldSkills International awarded National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement under the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia with the Certificate of Membership during the Session of WorldSkills General Assembly. Certificates were also granted to Marina Zhvania, official delegate of WorldSkills Georgia, Uta Bayer, technical delegate, experts Sergo Karakozov (web-designer), Gabriel Vatitadze (welder), Rodam Khidesheli (cook), other contestants and Maka Beraia, the team leader.
Korean team won 32 medals and became the leader team of 42nd WorldSkills International Competition. The next competition will be held in São Paulo Brazil, August 11-16, 2015.
