Conference on the Challenges and the Ways to improve the Quality Assurance System in Education

The National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement (NCEQE) under the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia held the conference on the Challenges and the Ways to improve the Quality Assurance System in Education. Giorgi Sharvashidze, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia opened the conference.
 
At the conference Ligia Deca and Achim Hopbach, the experts of the Council of Europe provided discussions on quality assurance mechanisms in education in Georgia. Elene Jibladze, Director of NCEQE discussed the changes implemented in the quality assurance system of higher education in Georgia. The Conference was attended by the representatives of the Georgian HEIs and education specialists that together with the Council of Europe’s experts discussed the ways to improve quality assurance mechanisms in education. Improving the quality of education represents one of the major directions of the long-term policy on education and science. The NCEQE is dedicated to the development of such mechanisms in order to ensure the compatibility of the quality of higher education and the Georgian educational system with the European one.
 
It is essential to have a sound quality assurance system based on local needs as well as international trends. The National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement (NCEQE) under the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is actively involved in cooperation with international experts. Currently, standards and the process of authorization and accreditation are undergoing major improvements based on the recommendations provided by the experts of the Council of Europe.
 
“Our task is to enhance the reliability of higher education both in Georgia and beyond it. Higher education should be attractive to Georgian as well as overseas students while promoting the participation of students and academic personnel in international exchange programs”, added Elene Jibladze.
