Study Visit in Portugal - Labor Migration and Cross-Border Mobility of Students
Ann Maisuradze, Head of the Department for Verification of Education of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement took part in the Study Visit, organized by Prague Process and International Centre for Migration Policy Development within the European Union funded project, held on October 12-15 in Portuguese cities of Porto and Lisbon. The subject of the meeting- Legal Migration -included the issues relevant to labor migration and students’ cross-border mobility.
During the visit, the participants had an opportunity to learn about practices and procedures employed for the recognition of foreign education in Portugal, followed by presentations on student’s mobility and educational programs of the Technical University of Lisbon offered by representatives of the University.
Another meeting was held with the head officials of the University of Porto. In the course of the meeting, legislative regulations applicable to the individuals who wish to study in Portugal, together with the educational programs of the University of Porto were introduced by University administration.
Study Visit continued in Porto Business School, where attendants learned the international student’s admission procedures. The sides discussed the challenges that according to the representatives of Porto Business School is due to bureaucratic barriers and diverging immigration policies existing in different countries.
The aim of Pilot Project 6 is to develop Guidelines with particular emphasis on students’ mobility. The draft version of Guidelines will be forwarded to the participating countries by the commencement of the year of 2016 while the introduction of the complete version is planned on the meeting scheduled for February 2016.
