European Training Foundation (ETF)


The European Training Foundation is the EU's agency supporting countries surrounding the European Union to reform their education, training and labour market systems. The main aim of  The European Training Foundation is to support each country’s own process for education and  training, with a range of evidence-based methodologies. 


ETF became operational in 1994 and Working relationships are developed with the international organisations such as the World Bank, the OECD, the ILO, the ITC/ILO, UNESCO, UNDP, UNICEF, UNIDO the Asian Development Bank, the African Development Bank, EBRD, EIB, IFC. Currently, the number of ETF member countries is 28.


Since 2014 the European Training Foundatop has been supporting Georgia to develop education and training to boost employability, increase access to opportunities and promote social cohesion. The EU cooperates with Georgia in the framework of the European Neighbourhood Policy and its eastern regional dimension, the Eastern Partnership.


In accordance with European Union law, the ETF is committed to ensuring implementation of the transparency principle in the area of its operations as well in the interaction with its stakeholders. Their work helps to strengthen relations between the EU and EU neighbouring countries and financial support between the European Union and the neighboring countries of the European Union, which plays a pivotal role in building regional stability, improving national economic prospects, and enabling the aspirations of millions of people.
