The Micro-GEAR project, targeting Georgia and Armenia, aims to support structural reforms within the South Caucasus region's higher education systems. This initiative focuses on the widespread adoption of microcredits as a tool for enhancing the relevance, quality, and flexibility of these educational structures.
Aligned with the Council of Europe's recommendation, "On the European approach to microcredits for lifelong learning and employment”, the project aims to update the national qualification frameworks of Georgia and Armenia and reach a consensus at the national level regarding the principles of microcredits, stimulate educational activities that are completed by granting microcredits and promote them recognition at both national and international levels.
In order to promote the reforms, to receive feedback at the policy level, as well as to promote the spread of microcredits, a pilot program will be implemented within the project, which includes capacity building in the direction of microcredits and the development of educational units implementing microcredits.
Information about the activities carried out within the project will be disseminated among all relevant educational and training providers in the beneficiary countries of the project and in the region as a whole. The project partners from Georgia and Armenia are: Ministries of Education, national agencies which provide educational program accreditation and ENIC Centers, higher educational institutions and training providers. From the EU side, the project consortium includes three higher educational institutions, the Italian ENIC-NARIC Center and a quality assurance expert company.
The project is financially supported by the Erasmus+.
The project implementation period is 2024-2027.
