The National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement participates in number of different projects since 2010. Here are important projects implemented since 2012:
- European Training Foundation – ETF
To ensure the compliance of the National Qualifications Framework with European Qualifications Framework - LLL, since April 2017, National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement has started cooperation with the European Training Foundation – ETF. Within the framework of the ETF’s funded project, local and international experts analysed draft document of revised National Qualifications Framework and the package of legislative amendments prepared for the approval of the revised National Qualifications Framework, also prepared an action plan for the implementation and further development of the renewed National Qualifications Framework.
- MODERNIZATION OF THE VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING AND EXTENSION SYSTEMS RELATED TO AGRICULTURE IN GEORGIA
In July 2016, a grant agreement was signed between UNDP and National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement to carry out activities for supporting the development of vocational qualifications in agriculture. The project - “MODERNIZATION OF THE VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING AND EXTENSION SYSTEMS RELATED TO AGRICULTURE IN GEORGIA” is implemented with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The duration of the project is 2 years (July 2016 - July 2018).
- TNE-QA – "Promoting Quality and recognition of Transnational Education in Armenia and Georgia"
In July, 2014 NCEQE joined the project TNE-QA – "Promoting Quality and recognition of Transnational Education in Armenia and Georgia”. The aim of the project was to establish internal quality assurance mechanisms in line with OECD/UNESCO guidelines, enhancing quality and promoting regulation and recognition of transnational higher education provisions in Armenia and Georgia. HEIs and educational institutions from Great Britain, France, Belgium, Germany, Georgia and Armenia are involved in the project. This project ended in 2017.
- MathGeAr
In 2014, NCEQE joined MathGeAr project, supported by “Tempus” program. The project aimed at modernization of Mathematics curriculum for engineering and natural sciences in South Caucasian universities by introducing modern educational technologies. HEIs of Georgia, Armenia, France, Germany and Finland are involved in the project, coordinated by Saarland University.
- “Quality Enhancement and Capacity Building Support Program in the VET Sector of Georgia”
In November, 2012 the Center began implementing the EU-funded project titled “Quality Enhancement and Capacity Building Support Program in the VET Sector of Georgia”. The project aimed supporting the ongoing reforms in the VET field, and particularly promoting vocational standards and modular educational programs for VET, enhancing the quality of vocational education, drafting a methodology for composing student surveys and increasing access to vocational education for, and facilitating employment of, socially vulnerable and other marginalized groups. This project ended with the concluding conference held on November 21, 2013.
- MAHATMA - Master in Higher Education Management
In March 2012, NCEQE got involved in the MAHATMA - Master in Higher Education Management – project implemented within the framework of the TEMPUS program. The project aimed at the promotion of the Master’s program in Higher Education Management at Georgian and Armenian partner universities. MAHATMA was three-year project and completed in September 2015.
- Promoting Internationalisation and Comparability of Quality Assurance in Higher Education (PICQA)
From July, 2010 the project “Promoting Internationalization and Comparability of Quality Assurance in Higher Education” was conducted under the European Union’s programme TEMPUS. The project aimed to enhance the Quality Assurance model in Armenia and Georgia and approximate it with EU standards. Georgia, together with Armenia and Germany, was involved as a coordinator country in this three-year project. Partner countries included France, Spain and Holland. In Georgia the project was coordinated by the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement. In 2013 training sessions were held in Germany and Spain for employees of HEIs as well as the Center itself. These focused on internal quality assurance systems. The Center’s employees also participated in the accreditation visit conducted by ASIIN – one of the German accreditation agencies – held at the University of Würzburg, and attended an accreditation council session. In order to analyse the outcomes of the amendments to the Accreditation Statute a survey questionnaire on educational quality assurance was prepared and distributed amongst students, administrations, academic personnel of HEIs and employers. Survey questionnaire results were then analysed. A training module for experts on external quality assurance was also prepared within the framework of this project. On October 9-11, 2013, a two-day Final Conference of PICQA was held in Yerevan Armenia. The project ended in April 2014.
- ENIC Capacity Building”
Since 2012 Georgia has been involved in the implementation of the project entitled “ENIC Capacity Building” initiated by the UK; this aimed to identify and improve best practice in academic recognition and the assessment of credentials by focusing on learning outcomes when evaluating foreign credentials and share information relating to education systems as well as qualifications.
- Modernization of Vocational Education and Training (VET) system related to agriculture in Georgia (Phase 2)
With support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the project of modernization of Vocational Education and Training system related to agriculture was implemented in Georgia in 2022 (May-August). The main goal of the project was to strengthen/develop quality assurance mechanisms and capabilities in the direction of Vocational education.
Within the framework of the project, the following activities were carried out: considering the existing practice, improving the mechanisms of recognition of the quality of non-formal education; taking into account the existing practice, amendment of the standards of authorization guide of vocational colleges; preparation of the training module for the development of the abilities of experts in quality assurance of vocational education, assessment and analysis of the activities of experts in quality assurance of vocational education; revision/improvement of the used forms in the framework of the administrative proceedings provided for by the authorization provision, considering the existing practice; strengthening the capacity of the vocational educational institutions authorization council.

Assessment Tool and Incentive Systems for Developing Higher Education Teachers' Performance PROFFORMANCE
In order to promote the implementation of the goals and principles of the European higher education space in the field of higher education of Georgia, the center became a partner of the PROFFORMANCE project from Georgia, which received funding from the European Union.
The project is financed by the European Union in the amount of 299,733.75 euros. The project start date is June 1, 2020, and the implementation period was 24 months.
The goal of the project was to support higher education institution in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the European Higher Education Area, at the national and institutional level, by encouraging the implementation of relevant strategies.
The tools developed within the project will enable higher education institutions to implement the principles related to the quality of teaching in the European Higher Education Area in practice.
