On Jun 27, 2019, the National Center for the Education Quality Enhancement was registered in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) (https://www.eqar.eu/register/agencies/agency/?id=59). Before registering in EQAR, in 2019 National Center for the Education Quality Enhancement received a positive assessment and a full membership status of the ENQA.
EQAR is a European public advocacy organization co-funded by European governments and stakeholders that promotes transparency and confidence building in higher education, as well as the recognition of education in the European Higher Education Area.
Registration of the Center in EQAR means that the external quality assurance mechanisms, procedures and standards implemented in Georgia are in line with the quality assurance standards and guidelines in force in the European Higher Education Area (ESG-2015).
The evaluation reports carried out by the Center will be published in the relevant database (DEQAR) produced by EQAR, this will significantly improve the reputation and recognizability of Georgian higher education institutions throughout Europe.
ENQA membership in the Center and registration in EQAR is an important step forward in the development of the Higher Education Quality Assurance System in Georgia, as it is on the one hand an indicator that the Association Agreement between Georgia and the EU is being implemented, and on the other hand it is in line with the EU Modernization Agenda for Higher Education and the Bologna Process. In addition, the membership of the Center in ENQA and EQAR further enhances the credibility of the National Center for Education Quality Enhancement, both locally and internationally.
In the coming years, the Center will actively work on the implementation of the recommendations developed by ENQA, which, together with the membership of ENQA and EQAR, will further contribute to the development of higher education quality assurance in the country.
