Workshop Held for Newly Elected Members of Educational Program Accreditation Council

Higher Education Quality Assurance Department of LEPL – National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement organized a workshop for newly elected members of Educational Program Accreditation Council.

 

First Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Aleksandre Tsuladze and Acting Director of LEPL – National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement of Georgia, Lasha Margishvili attended the workshop, congratulated the Accreditation Council members on their new appointment and wished success in their future endeavors.

 

The newly elected Educational Program Accreditation Council consists of 18 members who are academic or administrative staff of higher educational institutions operating in Georgia, employer and student members.

 

Educational Program Accreditation Council is a collegial body which makes decisions concerning accreditation of educational programs. In accordance with the educational program cluster accreditation model, educational programs are clustered in accordance with the fields of study, and once the year 2024 has been defined as the year for clusters of educational programs in the field of business and administration, logically, the majority of Council Members specialize in business and administration.

 

Throughout the workshop the participants discussed major principles of how the Council functions, as well as, technical and administrative and organizational issues.

 

The staff of Higher Education Quality Assurance Department provided an overview of educational program cluster accreditation model implemented in 2022. They provided the Council members with the presentations on higher education program accreditation standards, approaches used in the process of evaluation, the specificity of formation of educational program structure and content as well as program learning objectives and learning outcomes, approaches used while evaluating students’ learning outcomes, practical approaches for determining the amount of credits allotted to each individual study course, national qualifications framework, the classifier of fields of study and other essential issues.

 

While concluding the workshop, the participants summarized all those essential aspects which define the efficiency of the Accreditation Council and aspirations for education quality enhancement.
