The National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement held a working meeting with the newly selected international accreditation experts. The purpose of the meeting was to familiarize international experts with Georgia’s higher education quality assurance system, as well as accreditation standards and procedures.

 Within the framework of the meeting, participants discussed the key characteristics of Georgia’s higher education system, the Center’s strategic development priorities, and issues related to international cooperation.

 The accreditation experts were provided with detailed information on the specific aspects of evaluating educational programmes in law and engineering, the practice of applying sectoral benchmarks, and the principles guiding the work of expert panels. They also discussed procedural matters related to expert panel visits, the preparation of evaluation reports, and accreditation council sessions.

 Particular attention was paid to practical examples from the accreditation process. Experienced local and international experts of the Center shared their knowledge and experience with their newly selected colleagues.

 During the working meeting, participants discussed the Code of Ethics for Accreditation Experts, potential conflicts of interest involving experts, the specific aspects of evaluating joint and doctoral programmes, as well as approaches to assessing academic integrity and research ethics in doctoral education.

 Representatives of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement also introduced the participants to the MOOC platform developed within the framework of the Erasmus+ ETHICS project.

 The organization of such meetings by the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement aims, on the one hand, to raise international experts’ awareness of Georgia’s higher education and quality assurance systems and, on the other hand, to promote consistent, transparent, and objective approaches throughout the accreditation process of educational programmes.
