The National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement Won the Grant Competition Announced by the Council of Europe

In order to promote the implementation of the Lisbon Convention, the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement won the small grant competition announced by the Council of Europe.  The grant competition aimed to support the information centers (ENIC Centers) of specific countries (Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Vatican City, Kazakhstan, Monaco, Montenegro, Republic of Moldova, San Marino, Ukraine, Great Britain) involved in the education programme of the Council of Europe in the process of implementing the obligations assumed by the Lisbon Convention. 

 The programme included the following priority areas:

  • To implement the recommendations outlined in the 2nd monitoring report of the Lisbon Convention;
  • Recognition of the qualifications of refugees, persons with international protection status and persons in situations similar to refugees;
  • Fight against educational fraud.

The National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement participated in the grant competition on behalf of Georgia, and presented the following project - "Promoting the implementation of the procedure for recognizing the education received by refugees (persons with international protection status) in practice".

The grant application submitted by the Center was highly evaluated by the competition commission of the Council of Europe and the Center obtained full funding for the implementation of the mentioned project.

The official ceremony for grant award took place on March 27, 2023 in Strasbourg.

Within the framework of project implementation, the Center will conduct a research on the best international practices on the issues of recognizing education of refugees and persons with international protection status, evaluate the readiness of higher educational institutions in terms of conducting the procedure, create a guide and conduct training for higher educational institutions and stakeholders, and print brochures for potential applicants.
