The center hosted representatives from leading global organizations in the field of medical education

The LEPL National Center for Educational Quality Enhancementhosted a workshop featuring Professor Ricardo Lane-Borke, President of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), Professor Harm Peters, President of the Association of Medical Schools of Europe (AMSE), and Professor Subha Raman,President of the European Association of Medical Education (AMEE).

 

The First Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Aleksandre Tsuladze, along with employees from the Center for Quality Assurance of Higher Education and the Center for Planning, Research, and International Relations, took part in the workshop.

 

The meeting was also attended by the chairman of the Sectoral Council of Higher Education in Medicine, the head of the Academic Development and Strategic Development Department atTbilisi State Medical University, Gayane Simonia. She gave a presentation to the guests on the main aspects of the sectoral characteristics of medicine.

 

It was noted at the meeting that in Georgia, in accordance with the requirements of WFME, the sectoral characteristic of medicine have been developed and substantially updated. This document details the learning outcomes and competencies that all graduates of medical educational programmes must meet. 

 

The participants of the meeting discussed the importance of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement obtaining membership in the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and registration in the European Register of Quality Assurance Agencies (EQAR) by the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement.

 

It should be noted that representatives of the above-mentioned leading organizations in the direction of medical education positively evaluated the measures implemented by the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement in the direction of the development of medical education and expressed their desire and readiness for future cooperation.
