TAICEP 2025 - Presentation on Georgia’s Education System and the Recognition of Qualifications from the Occupied Territories

The annual conference of the Association for International Credential Evaluation Professionals was held in Cavtat, Croatia, attracting participants from multiple countries around the world.

This year holds special significance for Georgia, as the country officially became a member of TAICEP, an important milestone in deepening international cooperation in the field of education and credential recognition, and in strengthening Georgia’s integration into the global educational community.

During the conference, representatives of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, together with Beka Tavartkiladze, Senior Director at World Education Services, delivered a joint presentation titled “Dual Challenges: Understanding Georgia’s Education System and the Recognition of Qualifications from Occupied Regions.”

The presentation opened with an overview of Georgia’s education system, emphasizing the mechanisms of quality assurance in general and higher education. The main focus was placed on the procedures for recognizing education obtained in the occupied territories, the key challenges in this process, and strategies for addressing them. In the concluding part of the presentation, WES’s practices related to the recognition of qualifications from occupied regions were discussed, along with international parallels between the experiences of Georgia, the United States, and Canada.

The TAICEP 2025 Conference served as an important platform for sharing experiences and strengthening international cooperation. Georgia’s participation was especially noteworthy, marking the country’s role as both a new member and an active contributor within the global community of credential evaluation professionals.
