31 March 2026

The Acting Director of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, Lasha Margishvili, hosted Professor Armen Muradyan, the Rector of Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the Center’s significant role in administering accreditation processes for medical education programmes in the region, as a quality assurance agency recognized by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).

The parties also discussed the importance of the quality assurance system in education, which is aimed at fostering the institutional development of universities, as well as enhancing their teaching and research activities.

The National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement is the first quality assurance agency in the Eastern European region to have obtained recognition from the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) in 2018.

Recognition granted by WFME to the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement means that accreditation awarded by the Center to medical education programmes -both in Georgia and abroad - is internationally recognized.

The meeting was attended by the Head of the Higher Education Quality Assurance Department of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, Davit Kukhalashvili, along with representatives of Yerevan State Medical University named after Mkhitar Heratsi and Tbilisi State Medical University.
